As a citizen of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and being in agreement with the Pennsylvania Taxpayers Action Group concerning property taxes I am submitting this form in support of Senate Bill 76 (SB 76) which was approved by the Senate Finance Committee to move forward to the Senate floor. I encourage you to place this bill on the agenda for the next regularly scheduled session and to vote yes for its passage. The Pre Amble to the United States Constitution and this States Constitution all start out with the same three words "We the People", that means all of us. The ones who elected you to represent and legislate the needs and desires of the people not that of special interests or your own personal agenda. This issue has been debated far too long and the time has come to do what the people want. Property taxation is by far a very lucrative revenue source. By law, tax increases are supposed to be by referendum but because of a loop hole in the law the referendum process is ignored. Tax increases would never be approved by the people unless justified. This bill does not go far enough but it is a start. Sales tax is a far more equitable taxation as everyone pays the same share. In addition, Pennsylvania is now rich in natural gas through the fracking industry. The Governor and Legislators talk about taxing this industry - do so but for education and education only. We the People have suffered long enough under the current tax structure and demand the changes we request.
