  • CALL FOR ARTISTS

    Discover what Saluda Shoals Park inspires in you.  Come create your art - visual, sculptural, literary or performance - amidst wooded trails that wind along the banks of the Saluda River.  This natural setting is the perfect environment for your expression, and a true gift to park guests as they witness your blending of art and nature.

    A select group of artists will be invited to participate in unearth 2013 held on Sunday, October 6, 2013.  Artistic expressions may include but are not limited to:

    Art Demonstrations, Interpretation or Installation, Art Workshops, Musical / Dance performances or Earth Art

    To be considered for inclusion in this unique artistic endeavor, please submit the following application along with a minimum of 3 digital images of your work, to Saluda Shoals Park by July 1, 2013.

    Selected artists will be awarded a stipend ($125) to help cover costs associated with participation in the event. Selling artwork from your site on the trail is not permitted however, you will be able to submit a number of pieces to be sold at Nature's Bazaar*. (See our website for more information).Artists’ names also will be included in promotional materials. An independent panel of judges will select the slate of artists by July, 20, 2013. All submitting artists will be notified of the results by August 1st.

  • If selected, I will supply a brief artist bio and JPEG photo, which the Saluda Shoals Foundation has permission to use in its promotion of this event. I understand that this event will be held outdoors and that I will be assigned an appropriate location in the park at the discretion of the park staff to best fit into the presentation of this event as a whole. I will be responsible for providing any and all materials needed for my presentation.

    Not all artists who apply will be selected to participate. There is no rain date for this event. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather or other reasonable circumstances beyond the control of the Saluda Shoals Foundation, I understand I will not be compensated.

    By clicking the SUBMIT FORM button below, I hereby release and agree to hold harmless the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission and its representatives to the fullest extent allowed by law from any and all claims for personal or bodily injury and property damage occurring or resulting from participation in unearth. Furthermore, I grant full permission to the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission to use the below named likeness participating in this program without obligation or liability.
