The Stony Brook University Contemporary Chamber Players is accepting submissions of scores for two performances in November 2013, at Symphony Space in NYC, and at Stony Brook University as part of its Annual Premieres Series. This distinguished series has produced over 100 new pieces in a variety of styles over the last 25 years by a list of distinguished composers aged 22 to 88, including MacArthur and Pulitzer prize winners.
There are no age limits, the only requirement being that the composer is alive, has studied composition in a conservatory or university, and that the score has not been performed in public. One score per composer.
If chosen, the composer will be invited to come to Stony Brook University to present his/her music in a composers colloquium, to be present at rehearsals with the ensemble, and to introduce the piece during concerts. Travel funds and a small honorarium are available, and lodging while at Stony Brook will be provided.
