1. Sum your monthly payments for the last 12 electric bills, then divide by 12 to find the average. You can also simply enter the cost for electricity on a recent bill. Remember, if you have the same company for both gas and electricity, you'll have to subtract the gas costs. 2. Enter the number of kilowatt hours (kWh) charged for one month at all rate levels. Alternatively, you can multiply the total kWh for 12 months and divide by 12. 3. If your home is offgrid, identify your source(s) and annual costs.
