The Daily Pennsylvanian is looking for talented, dedicated and creative people to draw weekly cartoons for one of the nation’s best and most widely-read college newspapers. Being an opinion artist requires time and dedication, as well as the ability to make a point using few words.

Quick overview of the role:

As an opinion artist, you will be expected to illustrate comics once a week. Often, opinion artists are more or less free to draw whatever inspires them. We also looking to integrate opinion art and columns, so opinion artists will sometimes coordinate with columnists and draw an illustration that reflects the topic or message of the column.

Introduction

Please submit a brief introduction (no more than 250 words) touching on:

- what you believe makes a good opinion artist

- why you want to be an artist and what makes your art unique 

Art Ideas

Please submit a list of three opinion art ideas. Dont be general. Tell us what you want to draw, and be as specific as possible. We want details.

Sample Art

Please submit TWO sample pieces of opinion art. They should not have been previously submitted to or printed in any publication, including the DP. Don’t put any information on the art (such as your name or signature).
