The goal of NAYBSEC is simple: To improve the quality of life for Native Americans through an applied research, development, demonstration and commercialization of green technology to create jobs, increase family income and related social benefits for Native American Tribes, individuals, businesses, enterprises and communities in and near Indian country.
In pursuit of the goal, NAYBSEC will assist Native American tribes and other indigenous groups to 1) increase the production of quality crops and livestock products to provide food for their people. 2) create and improve the efficiency of local agriculture enterprises 3) reduce their dependency on Imported food and fiber products, 4) develop the capability to provide food products for sale outside their area, 5) provide training and employment opportunities on and near the reservation, and 6) make tribal members self-sufficient for food products.
The NAYBSEC R & D program is designed to create jobs by integrating green technology into sustainable agricultural enterprises that utilize less land, less labor, less water, less chemicals, and less carbon energy. The use of green technology is culturally friendly to Native American people and the environment. The benefits of the program will be relevant to both males and females and provide a learning environment for the children. . It will facilitate the growth of Native American agricultural production consistent with tribal sovereignty, tribal self-sufficiency and tribal self-determination.
