About TEC
Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is a three-day experience in Christian Living. It is designed for high school juniors through adults who are searching for goals, for acceptance, for meaning, for community, for values, for God. Parents, those who work or volunteer with youth, and interested adults are also encouraged to participate in this renewal weekend.
At TEC you experience:
- a fresh and exciting place away from home, school, amd work;
- meeting young adults from other areas;
- finding God as someone you can believe in;
- encountering Jesus Christ, risen and alive today;
- a follow-up program to help you live what you find at TEC;
- a time to reflect on your life, your ideals, your hopes, your dreams, and much more!
We try to take no more than six students from the same school on any weekend. About 36 participants are able
to make TEC at one time.
How you can participate in TEC:
TEC is held at various parishes throughout the Diocese. TEC takes place from Saturday at 10:00 a.m. to Monday at 5:00 p.m. The weekend must be experienced in its entirety. Please do not arrive late or leave early. A list of TEC dates and locations are listed below
What do I bring?
Clothing should be comfortable, casual and appropriate for retreat atmosphere. One change of dress clothing for the Sunday Liturgy is needed. You will also need a sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress or cot, towels and toiletries.
Cost:
The cost is $65.00. Please send this with your application. A reservation will not be held without at least a $30.00 deposit. In some cases your parish may pay part of your fee. Applications should be received by the TEC Board at least 14 days before the date of the retreat. If needed, financial assistance is available.
Can't miss a day from school?
Think again! Most retreats are scheduled on 3 day weekends. Also, going on a TEC retreat qualifies as a "guidance day" and not as an unexcused absence.
