The first Integrative Oncology conference was held for members of the Cancer Patient Navigators of Georgia (CPNG) organization in January 2012. In a continual effort to provide the education/training needs of the CPNG members, we conducted a survey last year. More than 90% of the respondents indicated they would attend an Integrative Oncology conference and recommended the conference last no longer than 3 days.
We are very excited to let you know that we will be offering an Integrative Oncology Training Program for Navigators as part of a research initiative. We will select 30 applicants who will be randomized into two groups:
- one half of the selected attendees will attend a 3 day training program from 5:30 pm Friday November 14, 2014 ending at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Lake Lanier Islands; followed by an 8 week online training program.
- other half will receive all of the materials and participate in the 8 week online training program.
Both arms of the pilot program will be evaluated. We believe this will lead to more effective future integrative oncology training for navigators.
