SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION STUDY AWAY PROGRAMS

The College of Social Science encourages participation in off-campus and study away programs as an important component of the undergraduate experience. In support of this objective, the College along with alumni and supporters of MSU’s Study Away Programs will award a limited number of grants in the amount of $500 for admitted participants.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants for the Study Away Programs Scholarship must meet the following requirements:

Be a participant in one of the following MSU Study Away Programs: Washington DC, Freshmen Seminar, Hawaii, Las Vegas, New York, Traverse City

Achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application (recommended).

If the applicant withdraws or is dismissed from MSU’s Study Away Program, funds will be withdrawn.

Application Procedure:

Applicants for the Study Away Programs Scholarship must submit the following application materials:

A completed Application for the Study Away Programs Scholarship.

A 1-2 page essay explaining the importance of the program to the applicant and how the scholarship will assist the applicant in participating in the MSU Study Away Program. (This should NOT be the same essay submitted with program application.)

A completed Reference Form from a faculty member or academic advisor. Our office will send your reference(s) the link to fill out a reference form. Please inform them ahead of time.

Application Deadline:

Summer Programs March 1

Summer Programs June 16 (Freshmen Seminar)

Fall Programs March 1

Spring Programs (Spring Break) January 15

Note: If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications will be accepted through the following Monday.
