This form is for people who need to rehome their dog. Submitting this form does not guarantee that Happy Dog Rescue will take your dog into our foster program or assist with the rehoming. It is merely the first step for you to tell us about your dog's temperament and why you need to rehome it.
First, where did you get this dog from? If you adopted it from another shelter or rescue, you are probably required by the adoption contract to contact that organization if you can't keep the dog. If you can't find your adoption contract, look up the organization on www.petfinder.com or www.adoptapet.com and contact them to find out the procedure for returning the dog to them.
Second, Happy Dog Rescue cannot accept any dogs into our foster program that have any kind of aggression issues. If your dog has bitten a human or guards it's food bowl/toys from other dogs or people, we cannot take it into our program. We have multiple dogs and a cat in the same foster home, so any dogs we intake must be good with people, dogs, cats, and have no bite/aggression history.
Third, your dog must be spayed (if female) or neutered (if male), heartworm/lyme negative (4DX tested), up to date on vaccinations and have a negative fecal test prior to intake into our foster program.
Fourth, at this time we are unable to accept any dogs that are larger than 25 bs to ensure the safety of our own pets.
Fifth, if you need to "get rid of your dog today", we can't help you. Foster space doesn't work like that. This isn't a shelter building. Our dogs are fostered in private homes with capacity limits. Often it'll take about 2-3 weeks for a foster slot to open up, sometimes longer depending on the time of year if adoptions are slow.
