SOUTHBARK VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES- All positions require some training and supervision
FOSTER HOME: Our most involved and demanding, but rewarding volunteer opportunity! These volunteers invite homeless pets into their homes to provide the love and structure needed to move them into loving forever families. Foster families are asked to commit until adoption. This can take 2 weeks to 6 months or more. SouthBARK provides all medical care for the pets in our foster homes. Foster Families are asked to provide food and basic necessities, but many times the rescue is able to help out.

ADOPTION EVENT GREETER: These volunteers are often the first person to come in contact with potential adopters and fosters when we are in public so these folks should enjoy working with humans as much as animals. They oversee the merchandise tables, talk to the public about the organization, handout adoption or foster applications, and accept/organize donations at events.
ADOPTION EVENT PET HANDLER: These volunteers do not live at home with the foster family, but attend adoption events, walking the dogs, interacting with potential adopters, and monitoring public interaction with the animals at events.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: We receive many requests to set up information tables (with and without dogs) at community festivals and events. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who don’t have a lot of spare time, but still want to be involved. It is also an excellent opportunity for young folks to get their community service hours. These volunteers are “SouthBARK Ambassadors” and are expected to represent SouthBARK in a professional manner.
SPECIAL PROJECTS:
TRANSPORTERS- Volunteers are needed to pick up pets from the shelter, foster homes, vet offices, or owners surrendering their pets, and deliver these pets to other foster homes, the vet, or adoption events.
EVENT ORGANIZERS- Volunteers are needed to organize fundraising events and donation drives.
MARKETING/WEBSITE/SOCIAL NETWORKING- Volunteers are needed to maintain the website, social networking sites and email newsletters.
PHOTOGRAPHY/CREATIVE WRITING- Volunteers are needed to take photos of available pets and to write creative biographies to help our pets find their forever homes.
