Note: You need to share your location with you browser in order to pinpoint your sighting on the map below. If you do not share your location the map will not show.
On Appledore Island, we use green bands with white characters for Herring Gulls and black bands with white characters for Great Black-backed Gulls. The alpha-numeric codes on our bands are three digits. If the gull you observed was a Herring Gull or Great Black-backed Gull and only had a metal (federal) band on its leg, please report the band number below. If the gull you observed had wing tags or a band code or color that does not fit the above description, please click on the “Sighting Guide” tab to find a list of other gull banding projects.
Optional Text: Anything you think might be important (e.g. at a landfill, eating French fries, attacking another gull, begging from another gull, appears injured – in what way?, etc)
This is in case we have questions about the sighting record – but for no other reason. We will not sell or share your personal information with anyone else.
If you have a digital photo(s) of the bird, please email it/them to Julie.Ellis@tufts.edu, and indicate that the photo is to accompany the online report.
