Description
The "La Mujer Universal" Scholarship is designed to assist a graduating high school female to obtain a college degree. La Mujer Universal is a symbol for women across the world. La Mujer Universal represents a woman with leadership, strength, dedication, and hard-work regardless of what obstacles or difficulties she may face. This scholarship is meant to help a lady who comes from an impoverished, low-resourced and/or historically under-represented, marginalized community. Scholarship is available, on a competitive basis.
Award
Awards are based on merit in the amount of $500; based on relative need, among the Scholar selected.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must matriculate at a U.S. two or four-year accredited college or university or a vocational/technical school for the 2016-2017 academic year.
- U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students
- Attend a public high school in the state of Georgia
- Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community service, extracurricular or other related activities
Scholarship Terms & Conditions:
The Delta Alpha Chapter de Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated at The University of Georgia will recognize only one applicant as its 2016-2017 “La Mujer Universal” Scholarship recipient and will award a scholarship in the amount of $500. The recipient must enroll in a two or four-year accredited college or university or a vocational/technical school for the 2016-2017 academic year. She must also provide enrollment verification once selected. Scholarship applications must be completed with all the required documents and must be submitted on or before the deadline of June 5th, 2017. Incomplete applications will not be accepted or considered.
