  • We welcome volunteer applications year round and appreciate your interest and support. After submitting a volunteer application, you'll hear from us within 7 business days to discuss availability and current needs of the organization. Once we have the opportunity to get to know your skills and interests, we'll look to create a match within an area or department looking for additional support.

However, if you are ready to volunteer right away, we encourage you to consider volunteering in the Craig Floyd Giving Garden. During the growing season, which is generally March through October, we welcome helping hands Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays between the hours of 7 am to 3 pm. We ask that you sign up for a volunteer garden shift, so we can plan tasks and ensure on-site supervision. Available days and times for Giving Garden shifts can be found by clicking here.

Thank you for your time, talent and support!

  • NOTES OF IMPORTANCE

    1) Ready to start volunteering right away? From March to October, please consider volunteering in the Craig Floyd Giving Garden at Coogan Farm. We welcome regular and one-time volunteers Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays. And you don't need to wait and hear back from us to sign up to volunteer in the garden. Available volunteer garden shifts and information about what you need to know to get started volunteering in the garden can be found here.

*Please note that all ages are welcomed in the garden, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

    2) Animal Care is a popular area of interest and usually has a waiting list for volunteers. If you'd like to volunteer in other areas in the meantime, please let us know.

    3) Areas such as Special Events or Seasonal Decorating are generally episodic or one day commitments with many volunteers needed. Even if you regularly volunteer in a different area, we'd appreciate your help with our events. We need lots of helping hands for Woodland Egg Hunt in the Spring, Wild Mushroom Festival in the Fall, and Luminaria in the Winter, so please join us!

    4) Habitat Restoration and Trail Maintenance often have group work days or regular timeframes for volunteering. We'll notify you when they are scheduled and upcoming. If you have expertise in native plantings or invasive species management and would be interested in leading group work days or volunteering on Habitat Restoration projects, please let us know more about your availability and area of expertise.

  • Note: DPNC requires background checks for any volunteer 18 years of age or older who will be working with children.
