    CALLING ALL MID-MAINE AREA POETS!

    The Maine Poetry Express is returning to Waterville, ME! 
    All Mid-Maine poets welcome aboard for the
    2015 
    Maine Poetry Express Waterville!


    Mid-Maine poets of all ages are invited to submit their original poems to the 2015 Maine Poetry Express Waterville. The division categories are grades 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, college, and adult. The deadline for the submission of poems is 7:00pm, Monday, March 2, 2015.

    Three poets from each division will have poems selected for reading at the Maine Poetry Express Waterville stop on Thursday, April 2, 2015, 6-7:30pm. The 2015 Maine Poetry Express Waterville event will take place at the Hathaway Creative Center, 10 Water Street, Waterville, ME 04901. Maine Poet Laureate Wes McNair will be our honored guest.

  • You may submit up to 3 poems for consideration.

    You may not resubmit poems that were submitted to Maine Poetry Express in 2013 or 2014.

    Documents should be submitted in .doc or .docx format, and should follow the format poemtitle.doc. Since all entries are judged anonymously, the poem document should not include your name or other identifying marks.

  • The purpose of the Maine Poetry Express Waterville poetry contest and event is to shine a light of awareness on poetry in the Mid-Maine region, to come together as a diverse community to celebrate poetic thoughts, and to bring recognition to our area poets of all ages. The Maine Poetry Express is an initiative of Maine Poet Laureate Wesley McNair and is supported by the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance. Mr. McNair will be our honored guest at the 3rd annual Maine Poetry Express Waterville community poetry celebration on Thursday, April 2, 2015, 6p-7:30p at the Hathaway Creative Center, 10 Water Street, Waterville, ME 04901. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.

    The 2015 Maine Poetry Express Waterville collaborators are Colby College Special Collections, Colby College Center for the Arts & Humanities, Waterville High School, Waterville Main Street, and the Waterville Public Library.
