  • General Guidelines
  • All facility repair and improvement projects require planning, documentation and approval. The steps outlined below must be followed in sequential order to ensure projects are completed in accordance with school district and state regulations.  1. Projects are discussed at the school site with the program manager, department head, and school administration. The scope, timeline and details will be examined to ensure all projects meet the needs of the school and fall within OUSD guidelines. 2. The form included below must be submitted well in advance and should include a OUSD Certificate of Insurance with OUSD named on the policy, a copy of the current California Contractor"s Licence, auto insurance policy details if a vehicle will be driven on campus, and the Canyon High School Guest Driver Permit application. In addition, if work is taking place during school hours, a background check will need to be completed for each worker scheduled to be on campus. 3. Completed packets are presented to the Canyon High School Administrative Cabinet for site approval. Once that is completed, it is then sent to the school district for their approval. This process can take several weeks depending on the scope of the project.  4. Fundraising for a project can begin only after receiving written approval from the school administration and school district. Items placed on OUSD property must be donated to the school district. Please complete the Canyon High School Fundraising Activity Request if you plan to solicit funds for a particular project.  5. All work performed on campus must be scheduled with the school administration. Every effort must be made to avoid impacting school functions.  6. Projects will be inspected by the governing agency (e.g., school district, DSA, etc.) following completion. Alterations to the work may be required at this stage at the request of the governing agency.  7. The scope of the project and the equipment used will determine the safety measures required. Please remember that performing work on a public school campus often requires additional regulatory oversight. This is not an optional step. 8. Any injury, damage to property, or unforseen circumstance must be reported to the school administration immediately.  NO WORK CAN TAKE PLACE WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION. THERE IS NO EXCEPTIONS.
