District 20 Grand National Teams (GNT) 2023 Tournament Registration Form

The 2023 D20 GNT competition for Flights A, B, & C will be held online as in previous years. Matches will be played on Bridge Base Online (BBO) with teams arranging their own date and time based on approximate 10-day time periods starting in January. All D20 members in good standing are eligible to participate. See flight limits in the selection box below. Registration deadline is December 24, 2022. Registrations after this date must be approved by the District Director to become official. Convention cards must be posted on BBO prior to match play. Championship play is on two weekends: March 25/26 (qualifying) and April 29/30 (finals). Championship registration deald;ine is March 17.
It is intended that the D20 GNT winning teams become eligible for an NABC Finals competition at the Summer NABC's in Chicago in July, 2023. If a National GNT Finals is not played in 2023, there will be no advancement in a subsequent year and this will be a stand-alone event. Subsidies for travel expenses in 2023 may be offered if approved by the D20 Board.

The initial cost for the Championship is $240 per team (four sessions at $15 per person per session). Fees for the KO matches, if any, will be charged at that same rate. See the Conditions of Contest for details.

Masterpoints for flight eligibility are set to the September masterpoint cycle published by the ACBL as of August 6, 2022. (note!)

During all matches, players should have an ongoing video or audio chat session with their screenmate (North and East are screenmates; South and West are screenmates). These sessions are required for all KO matches and recommended for Round-Robin and Swiss matches. The chat can be done in software of the players’ choice, or by telephone call; if none can be agreed, the default choice is Zoom. The Director in Charge will mediate any issue regarding these connections.

Official correspondence between the GNT Coordinator and/or the Director-in-Charge with the teams will be through their Team Captain at the email address and telephone contact information provided in this form. It is incumbent on the Team Captains to forward and ensure delivery of pertinent information to all members of their team.

The initial entry fee is $100.00 per team. Checks or money-orders should be made out to "ACBL District 20" and sent to the D20 Business Manager, Marie Ashton, 6512 SW Midmar Pl, Portland, OR 97223.
