  • Dr. Antonio Jorge Political Economy Scholarship

  • The Dr. Antonio Jorge Foundation, Inc., a non-pofit charitable organization, in consultation with the Dr. Antonio Jorge Social and Economic Development Council of Miami-Dade County (AJSEDC), is proud to offer the Dr. Antonio Jorge Political Economy Scholarship. The scholarship is intended to memorialize Dr. Jorge's life and to promote his ideals: a better society for all, education, and international cooperation. Each year two qualified students will be awarded $500 each in order to facilate their pursuit of an undergraduate education in a field related to political economy, an interdisciplinary branch of the social sciences that focuses on the interrelationships among individuals, governments, and public policy.

  • 1. Deadlines and Criteria:

    The window for scholarships opens during the fall semester for the upcoming spring and summer terms. The application form for 2022-2023 is currently open.
  • Applicants for the Dr. Antonio Jorge Political Economy Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

    • Must reside in Miami - Dade County, FL,  prior to submitting the application.
    • Must pursue an undergraduate degree in Political Science, History, Economics, Sociology, International Relations, or Public Administration.
    • Must attend a regionally accredited college or university in Miami Dade County, FL.

  • Essay Instructions:

    Type a 300-500 word essay below that outlines your past studies and future plans, and how they relate to the ideals of Dr. Jorge.  Also include a description of any civic, volunteer, and/or community based projects that you have participated in and the role you played in each.
