• TEMPORARY UTILITY WORK ZONE TRAFFIC CONTROL COURSE

This one (1) day, eight (8) hour course (8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) provides the participant with the necessary training to design, select, place, and maintain traffic control signs and devices used for temporary traffic control work zones and for incident management. This training covers the principles of proper traffic control practices, as outlined in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD 2009) and other established applicable standards and guidelines. Under OSHA, employees must be protected from traffic hazards. OSHA Standards, “29 CFR 1926.200 Subpart G.-Signs, Signals, and Barricades,” require that traffic control devices used to protect employees from traffic hazards conform to the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD 2009) This course also outlines the temporary traffic control signs or devices required by “Subpart VI.” GDOT requires a designated Worksite Traffic Control Supervisor (WTCS) on interstates and highways that involve temporary traffic control. This course is designed to provide the training required for low speed/low volume roads for Temporary Utility Worksite Traffic Control.
