Dollar Bank and Duquesne's Public History program have established an on-going archival internship at the Bank's Operations Center on Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh. The Bank's professional archivist and/or other staff member will serve as internship director, determine the specific duties of each internship, and provide on-site direction. To qualify for the internship, applicants must be enrolled in Duquesne's Public History M.A. program, have completed, or be enrolled in, PHST 521: Introduction to Archives, or have equivalent practical experience in archival work. Dollar Bank will provide a $2,000 stipend for each intern.
The Dollar Bank internship will comply with the requirement of 125 hours of work over the course of each semester (approximately eight hours per week) and will focus on a specific project to be completed by that student. Student interns will maintain logs of the hours they work during the internship and write an evaluative essay summarizing their internship experience. The Bank's representative(s) will complete an Internship Director Exit Survey for each internship, and copies of all materials will be deposited with both Dollar Bank and the Department of History. In addition, the intern will deliver a public presentation at the Bank's main office on Fourth Avenue late in the spring semester.
