  • What is the length of internship? 6 months with eligibility to renew. The general standard length of internship is 12 months, but no more than two years as determined by the personnel committee. The personnel committee may terminate the internship prior to 6 months at its discretion.

    Who Should Apply? This is an internship that is designed for men and women who feel called to church ministry. If being challenged in an environment centered on the gospel is your desire, we’d love for you to apply.

    What are the hours and how much does it pay?  The intern will be expected to work 20 hours per week.  The schedule will be determined based the interns interests and pastoral staff input.

    Considering church ministry, but just not sure about all the details? This may be a great fit for you too, so feel free to apply. Jumping in and serving in the local church is a great way to clarify the calling God may be placing on your life. 

     

  • Requirements & Expectations:

    • A high school graduate or 5th year MEC student.
      who is a professing, baptized believer exploring a call to vocational ministry.
    • Adherence to the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message.
    • Abstain from alcohol and any other behavior that could be a stumbling block or bring reproach upon the Christ or His bride, the church.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Practice good stewardship with the church’s resources.
    • Submission to the leadership of the pastoral staff and personnel committee while demonstrating humility and respect toward lay leaders and the congregation.
    • 20 hours of assigned ministry work per week in addition to regular attendance at Sunday morning worship services and Wednesday evening services. If the intern has an additional job, priority must be given to the church in the scheduling of work hours.
    • Complete reading as assigned by pastoral staff during internship.
    • Completed background check if selected as a candidate.

  • Applicants may elect to work in one or more of the following area:

    Small Groups:  Assist in the planning, implementation, and/or leadership of a small group for students at Cowee Baptist Church.

    Discipleship:  Assist in the planning and/or implementation of an individual discipleship program at Cowee Baptist Church

    Student Ministry:  Assist in current student ministries at Cowee Baptist or develop and impliment off site student ministries at locals schools or workplaces.

    Children's Ministry:  Work with Children's Ministry Director to develop and impliment ministry programs for the children and nursery.  

    Worship:  Participate in or lead worship.  This may be on Sunday morning traditional service, Sunday morning Crossover service, or Wednesday youth group.  May require additional practice sessions.

    Local Outreach:  Design, impliment, and/or participate in community outreach programs that help spread love and the Gospel to our local community.

    Missions:  Work with and support local, national, and international mission projects.

    AV and Productions:  Work with the AV and production teams for all available services.  This may include  the design of web based announcements, video productions, sound/lighting work, etc.
