    • General Project Information
    • Participants may choose to phase project installation. For example, a participant may choose to phase a 2000 square foot project over two years, installing 1000 square feet each year. The participant may then be eligible for a rebate each year. Each installation phase must occur within the corresponding rebate year.

    • For more information about City of Fort Collins Parkway Strip Requirements, check out this brochure.

    • City of Fort Collins code requires the addition of soil amendment in areas that are cleared and planned to hold plant material.

The vast majority of Colorado soil will require amendments.

    • Landscape Design

    • Trees are not rebateable through XIP, but we love them and don't want them to suffer.  See Forestry's website for more information on summer and winter watering schedules and recommended gallons based on size of tree: https://www.fcgov.com/forestry/tree-maintenance.php

    • Examples of hardscaping include boulders, retaining walls, cobble, wood and rock mulch, pavers, flagstone, gravel, stones, permeable concrete

    • Edging is required to separate turf from planting beds. Examples of edging include metal or plastic edging, bricks, pavers, stones, etc

    • Irrigation Design
    • It is illegal to use a hose without any type of automatic shut-off device, like a spray nozzle. A nozzle-less hose is easy to forget, resulting in water waste and damage.

    • It's OK to repurpose components you already own—just check that they are not broken, worn or leaky. If you already have a drip line in the areas you are renovating, then it is likely that this area does not qualify for the rebate since drip lines are designed to water low- and medium-water use plants.

    • A properly installed and approved backflow preventer keeps water that may be contaminated with pesticides and fertilizers from re-entering your home through your sprinkler system. All sprinkler systems must be equipped with an approved backflow preventer. Learn more at http://www.fcgov.com/backflow.

    • *Some irrigation equipment is eligible for a residential irrigation rebate through our Efficiency Works program. Please visit http://www.fcgov.com/sprinkler-rebates to learn more.
