Stay calm and practice safety. Aggressive driving is a factor in 42 percent of Hillsborough County's fatal vehicle crashes. Whether I’m driving, biking or walking, I’ll practice safe behavior to reduce the risk of harm for myself and others.

Pay attention. When driving, walking or biking, I’ll put away my phone. Electronic distraction is a factor in 16 percent of our county's fatal and incapacitating injury crashes. 

Slow down. Speed is a fundamental factor in crash severity. The faster you go, the more likely you, another driver, or a person walking or bicycling could die or receive an incapacitating injury in a crash.

Travel sober. Intoxicated driving is a factor in 23 percent of all fatal crashes and 19 percent of our county’s fatal pedestrian crashes.

Remember. Every driver, passenger, person walking and bicycling is someone’s loved one. I want to protect my loved ones and come home safely.
