As stated in the 3-Way Contract, LVC considers health insurance a reasonable benefit. As an LVC Volunteer, there are two options for health insurance. OPTION 1 is to remain on your parent or guardian’s health insurance, which may provide continuity of medical services and benefits. OPTION 2 is to have your Placement provide, at their cost, a health insurance plan that is compatible with the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
If you select the OPTION 2 your Placement can choose to enroll you in their health insurance or to enroll you in the CVN plan offered via LVC. In the last two years, the CVN health insurance has been provided by Cigna Healthcare and is fully ACA compliant. CVN usually announces their health insurance plan in late June or early July. Health insurance coverage, under OPTION 2 is effective September 1, 2017 through July 31, 2018. You will not continue to receive this benefit if you leave LVC before the end of the program year.
Please thoroughly review your 3-Way Contract section “Health Insurance and Liability” for information on health insurance expectations and reimbursements during your LVC program year. Once your selection has been made, LVC will convey your health insurance selection to the Placement. If you selection Option 2, you will receive additional information in the coming months.
(Note 5-8-2017: LVC recognizes that changes may be coming in regards to health insurance coverage. If you are not staying on a parent's plan, LVC and your Placement will still offer a health insurance plan. If changes do occur, more information will be sent out.)
