Wags and Whiskers Adoption Application

The adoption fee for ALL Wags and Whiskers dogs is $175 each. The adoption fee includes: de-worming, age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test (for dogs over 6 months of age), and rabies shot (for dogs over 16 weeks of age). Please note that this does NOT include microchipping. Micro- chipping is available from our vet for an additional fee.

Wags and whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do Not contact the vet clinics we work with (Tillmans Corner Vet Hospital, Mobile, AL Southern Vet Clinic, Lucedale, MS, SNIP, Ocean Springs, MS or Semmes Animal Hospital, Mobile, AL) regarding adoptions, as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. We also use multiple clinics so there is confusion when calls are made about pets that were not seen at that particular clinic. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. ADOPTION CONTRACT

I UNDERSTAND AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE FOLLOWING -- PLEASE INITIAL EACH!

Wags & Whiskers is not responsible for any damage to property or persons once the pet is in my care. *

I understand that it is Wags and Whiskers policy (like that of all other shelters and rescues) that all animals must be altered before the adoption is finalized. This includes pediatric spay and neuter starting at 9 weeks of age and 2 pounds. There is not an exception to this rule unless Wags and Whiskers vet deems it medically necessary to not preform the procedure at that time.

I have 5 days to take my newly adopted pet to my own personal vet to ensure he or she is healthy. This is not a requirement, but if my adopted pet is not taken to the vet within the first 5 days and a medical issue is found after that time period, Wags and Whiskers is not responsible. *

I understand if a medical issue is discovered within the first 5 days that I need to contact Wags and Whiskers Immediately with documentation and they will get in contact with our veterinarian that treated this particular pet (Tillmans Corner Vet Hospital, Mobile, AL Southern Vet Clinic, Lucedale, MS, SNIP, Ocean Springs, MS or Semmes Animal Hospital, Mobile, AL) ONLY and have it corrected through our veterinarian that treated this particular pet (Tillmans Corner Vet Hospital, Mobile, AL Southern Vet Clinic, Lucedale, MS, SNIP, Ocean Springs, MS or Semmes Animal Hospital, Mobile, AL) ONLY. *

Wags and Whiskers is not responsible for any medical bills acquired at any other vet hospital besides what they approve at (Tillmans Corner Vet Hospital, Mobile, AL Southern Vet Clinic, Lucedale, MS, SNIP, Ocean Springs, MS or Semmes Animal Hospital, Mobile, AL) .*

I understand if I am adopting out of Wags and Whiskers area of Mobile, AL and a medical issue arises within the first 5 days, I am responsible for seeking treatment personally and I am financially responsible for all treatment besides anything that Wags and Whiskers approves if the pet can be returned to our veterinarian that treat this pet (Tillmans Corner Vet Hospital, Mobile, AL Southern Vet Clinic, Lucedale, MS, SNIP, Ocean Springs, MS or Semmes Animal Hospital, Mobile, AL) for treatment *

I understand that Wags and Whiskers does not guarantee that any of their adoptable pets are potty trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents until the animal is settled in, even with the most well trained dogs.*

I understand that all adoptable dogs will require training, especially those of puppy age -- Less than 1 Year. All puppies chew, cry, potty, can be mouthy, jump up, ect. until they are trained otherwise. Even adult dogs can experience these behaviors.*

If any legitimate and proven unknown medical or behavioral issue arises within the first 5 days after adoption and is documented and submitted to Wags and Whiskers, I understand a full refund, less the $50 non refundable deposit if paid beforehand, of the adoption fee will be given only with the return of the animal. Refunds will not be given for potty training issues or because of typical puppy behaviors like chewing, crying, pottying, jumping, mouthiness, ect.*

If for any reason I cannot keep this pet in the future, it MUST be returned to Wags and Whiskers and cannot be re-homed by me or anyone else! Please contact Wags and Whiskers and they will work to find a foster or adopter as quickly as they can but it may NOT be immediate due to foster availbility. *

I understand that if the pet must be returned I am responsible for transporting the pet back to Wags and Whiskers. *

I understand that in most cases Wags and Whiskers has no previous history of the animals in their care. These animals are often strays and this includes but is not limited to vetting history. All breeds and predicted sizes of their adoptable are NOT fact but guesses from Wags and Whiskers Veterinarians and Volunteers. *

All of the information I have given is true and complete. This dog will reside in my home as a pet. I will provide it with quality dog food, plenty of fresh water, indoor shelter, affection, annual physical examination and vaccinations under the supervision of a licensed Veterinarian. *

I agree to pay the adoption fee of $175 in full before medical records on the pet are released.*

If this pet is not currently adoption ready, I understand a $50 NON REFUNDABLE deposit can be placed to reserve and hold the pet if you are approved and instructed by Wags and Whiskers to do so. The remaining $125 of the adoption fee is due before or at pick up.

I understand all medical records will be emailed typically within 48 hours during business days once all required vetting of the pet is completed, my application is approved, the adoption fee is paid in full and the adoption finalized. If adoptions take place after 12pm on Friday through Sunday, the 48 hour period starts the following Monday, as our vets are closed on weekends. If records are not received in a timely manner please send a email to Wags and Whiskers.

I understand that (Tillmans Corner Vet Hospital, Mobile, AL Southern Vet Clinic, Lucedale, MS, SNIP, Ocean Springs, MS or Semmes Animal Hospital, Mobile, AL) or any other Vet Hospital that Wags and Whiskers uses does their vetting ONLY. They do house or have history of any animal in Wags and Whiskers care. Please do not contact or show up for meet and greets or appointments without scheduling through Wags and Whiskers beforehand.

I UNDERTSAND THAT WAGS AND WHISKERS IS AN ALL VOLUNTEER- FOSTER BASED RESCUE ORGANIZATION. WAGS AND WHISKERS DOES NOT HAVE A PHONE LINE OR PHYSICAL LOCATION. ALL ADOPTABLE PETS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES.
