• CAHS Volunteer Application

    You can help...
  • Circle Area Humane Society, is a nonprofit organization governed by a board of directors. The society is not controlled or funded by any local, statewide or national organization. We are supported by gifts, contributions and fundraising. Donations made to national animal welfare groups do not benefit our local animals. The services we provide to the animals and people in need depend largely upon the generosity of committed, caring people just like you.

    Please read the following carefully.

    • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work in the shelter.  We ask that volunteers not bring children or any non-volunteering person(s) with them to the shelter while they are working.
    • CAHS will do as much as we can to adopt as many animals as we can, however, untill the overpopulation problem is solved, not every animal can be saved. The descison to euthanize is determined by the shelter staff and not a volunteer.
    • Criteria for euthanasia includes severe debilitation, advanced age, health problems, complex injury not amendable by treatment or treatment that has a poor prognosis, agression and FELV/FIV positive cats.
    • When it becomes necessary to make that descison, we are commited to assuring that death is induced as quickly and painlessly as possible by a trained and caring staff.
    • I understand the possible risk of bringing home illnesses from the shelter to my personal pets or vice versa.Though not common, it can happen. CAHS cannot be held accountable for this.
    • To help prevent this we reccommend the following: changing your clothes immediately when you get home, washing your hands when you arrive, washing your hands often while at the shelter and washing again before you leave.
    • We feel it would also be beneficial to your pets if they are current on vaccinations.
    • If I choose to submit this application and am chosen by the Circle Area Humane Society to serve as a volunteer, I will not hold CAHS liable for any accident or injury that I may sustain as a result of contact with animals in residence or any activity that I may be asked to perform as a volunteer of the shelter.
    • The Board or Staff of the Circle Area Humane Society has the right to dismiss me as a volunteer.
    • Shelter rules also apply to volunteers.
  • We ask that you take volunteering seriously and realize we rely on you to be here.

If you cannot be here for your assigned shift, you simply dont want to or can't volunteer anymore please have the courtesy to notify us of such.

  • By proceeding to the Volunteer application you are indicating that you have read, understand and agree to the above statements.
