Ways to Serve
Virtual English Language Conversation
Partner with a newly-arrived individual or family to offer friendship and English language practice! With social distancing measures in place, it is more important than ever to support new arrivals as they get to know our community. Meetings currently take place weekly over virtual platforms between partners. Meeting times are flexible according to client and volunteer schedule. No previous experience teaching English required. Requirements: orientation and background check, minimum three month commitment.
Welcome Teams are groups of individuals that set up homes for new refugee arrivals. Groups can commit to collecting the household and furniture items themselves for the set up, OR commit to simply meeting at the apartment on the scheduled delivery day to set up the delivered items. Help us turn empty spaces into welcoming homes! Availability of Welcome Team opportunities fluctuates due to number of arrivals at any given time. Requirements: orientation and completion of required volunteer paperwork, time commitment varies based on each team's capacity.
Is your organization, congregation, business, or other group interested in learning more about refugee resettlement and ways to support our newest neighbors in Greensboro? Invite a speaker from CWS to attend your (virtual) event! We'd love to share more about our work and ways you can be involved. Contact email@example.com for more information.
