Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated is a socially conscious, service oriented organization established January 9, 1914 in Washington, D.C. This non-profit organization, formed on the campus of Howard University, consists of 150,000 predominately African-American men. The Fraternity was founded on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service. Phi Beta Sigma is dedicated to fostering the continuous education of young people. THETA SIGMA CHAPTER
Theta Sigma is the Buffalo, N.Y. Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Theta Sigma has been active in the Buffalo community since 1923. The Chapter presents annual scholarships to college-bound high school seniors.
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their scholastic aptitude, academic performance, extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership skills, and essay responses.
All Applicants must:
Currently be enrolled as a graduating African-American male high school senior.
Accepted and planning to attend an accredited college or university during the 2017-2018 school year.
Possess a cumulative grade point average of 85 or above.
To apply, please complete the scholarship application in full. Please provide:
An official high school transcript mailed to the address listed below.
A completed essay; uploaded here or mailed to address listed below.
Three (3) letters of reference; uploaded here or mailed to the address listed below; meeting the following criteria:
One letter from a counselor or current teacher which evaluates your overall academic performance.
Two letters from an employer, former teacher, community leader, minister, or mentor.
Please note: Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Award recipients must provide proof of acceptance and enrollment into an accredited institution of higher learning to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Theta Sigma Chapter, before scholarship monies are awarded.
