    Volunteer Application

  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Northwest Mothers Milk Bank!

To protect the medically fragile infants we serve, we are only accepting volunteers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for in-person tasks. We prefer volunteers who have received one or more booster shots. Fully-vaccinated volunteers may be invited for in-person tasks at the milk bank pending proof of immunization and shift availability.

Those who are not yet vaccinated or unable to be vaccinated for any reason are still able to volunteer for at-home tasks when they are available, but will not be invited for in-person tasks at the milk bank until further notice.

    Thank you, and stay safe!

  • Out of an abundance of caution, we will only consider individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with preference to those who have received one or more booster shots, for in-person volunteer tasks at this time. Acceptance into the volunteer program is contingent on proof of vaccination.

    1. Porch Pickups - Assist in socially-distanced pickups of milk from donor homes and milk drop sites, and deliver the milk frozen to the milk bank. Current drivers' licence, vehicle, and clean driving record required. We will provide supplies including gloves, masks, and coolers.
    2. Front Office - Assist our front office staff by sending donor outreach emails, mailing donor gifts, scanning and filing, and performing clerical tasks in a casual office environment.
    3. Processing - Assist our milk processing team in the lab with milk check-in, supply preparation, organizing paperwork, and thawing and pouring milk for pasteurization.
      • Some processing tasks involve heavy lifting, handling very cold or frozen objects, spending short periods of time in cold environments (walk-in freezer), long periods of standing, and repetitive motions.
      • Some processing tasks require a Food Handlers License after the second volunteer shift - NWMMB will reimburse the fee for obtaining such a license if volunteer does not already hold one.
    4. Shipping - Assist our shipping team in the warehouse with stocking supplies, preparing boxes for shipment, and packing orders.
      • Some shipping tasks involve heavy lifting, handling frozen objects and dry ice, long periods of standing, and repetitive motions.
    5. Events & Special Projects - Help on an as-need basis, with events, special projects, or committees. If you are interested in this opportunity you will be added to the special event volunteer list and will be contacted as needed.

  • We ask milk bank volunteers to commit a 2 hour block per week for a period of 4 months.
