The International Franchise Association Marketing & Innovation Committee is pleased to announce the launch of the 2nd Annual FranTech Awards.
In its second year, the IFA FranTech Awards will include three categories, including the first-ever Innovation Award. All three awards are described in detail below.
In short, the FranTech Awards will recognize best in class marketing campaigns that leverage technology platforms to create innovative programs that have helped franchise companies enhance their brands and increase franchise sales. Likewise, innovation in the franchise industry will be celebrated with its own category – measuring how tech-driven solutions in franchising are creating enormous value for franchise brands.
Nominations will be accepted through July 28 and winners will be announced during the FranTech2017, IFA’s Digital Marketing & Innovation Conference, Oct. 19-20, 2017 in San Diego, California.
Winners must attend (at their expense) FranTech2017 and agree to present their winning campaign as a case study during the conference (winners will be notified in late-August to accommodate travel arrangements).

Best Marketing Campaigns of the Year
The IFA is awarding two “Best Marketing Campaign of the Year” awards – one for the top “Business to Consumer/Client Marketing Campaign” and one for the best “Franchise Development Marketing Campaign.” Campaigns launched in 2016 or 2017 will be eligible.
Nominees for either award must be a franchisor IFA member company, which may submit entries for both categories. No more than two nominations per category from the same company are permitted.
All campaigns nominated must include some form of digital marketing or an innovative use of technology as part of the campaign and will be judged on:
Clarity of the business objective
Effective use of digital elements

Business to Consumer/Client Marketing Campaign
Based on the criteria noted above, the Best Campaign of the Year - Business to Consumer/Client Marketing Campaign award will go to the campaign that best drove awareness, conversions, revenues and/or sales with end-users of the franchisor’s brand, product and/or service. This could include national and/or local campaigns that achieved the goals set forth by the franchisor, whether they were to have a national or local impact, or both.
Franchise Development Marketing Campaign
Based on the criteria noted above, the Best Campaign of the Year - Franchise Development Marketing Campaign award will go to the campaign that best drove franchise leads, resulted in franchise development deals and significantly expanded the footprint of the franchise, while maintaining brand equity with high-quality franchisees. This would include providing details on the campaign’s ability to meet and exceed goals established for the geographic and demographic targets of the franchise development marketing efforts.
Nominations for the “Innovation Award” feature innovative, tech-driven solution(s) that create extraordinary value for the end-user or recipient (franchisees, operations, customers, etc.).
The nominees must discuss the problem being solved and the path taken to develop the innovative solution, i.e. the discovery process used to validate design thinking, proof of concept, market testing, etc.
Nominees must also provide tangible results, showcasing how this innovation was implemented and more importantly adopted. What communication tools and methods were used?
Considerations will include:
How was the vision of innovation communicated in a clear and compelling way?
How did you drive excitement and awareness?
What are the short and long term successes of this innovation and how will they be realized in real terms; financial impact, operational efficiencies, tangible increases in customer engagement, etc?
