All performing companies and artists are welcome to apply. Works previously produced are eligible.
While artists/companies outside of the DC metro area may apply, strong preference is given to DC metro area artists.
If you are interested in presenting work geared toward young audiences (ages 1-12 years), please see our Family Fun Days Application.
Works are selected based upon artistic excellence, artistic merit, relevance to festival themes, innovation, collaboration, audience engagement, potential ticket sales, and marketing and administrative capacity.
All performances selected are presented as follows:
Atlas covers the cost of the performance space, standard venue inventory, one tech rehearsal (length of rehearsal varies by space) and provides production support including a light board operator, sound board operator, and venue manager, along with house management, box office, and marketing - which are all part of a multi-week long festival that over its history has presented hundreds of artists and hosted tens of thousands of audience members. The festival is a great way to see and be seen.
Artists and companies cover all “in the door” expenses (all performer fees and production costs) and a stage manager. Please note, all companies / artists must provide a non-performing stage manager for tech and performance(s).
All artists agree to market and promote their performance(s) as described in the application, and partner and/or collaborate with the Atlas and the INTERSECTIONS Festival community of artists.
Groups and performance companies that present Full-Length works will receive the proceeds from the box office, less a percentage for the Atlas. The split of net box office sales is 60% Artist and 40% Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival.
Groups and performance companies that participate in the Showcase event will receive a $150 honorarium.
