The Tukwila Arts Commission intends to increase public awareness, appreciation, and understanding of arts through exhibits of emerging and professional local resident artists.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION PROGRAM
Professional or amateur artists working in two-dimensional media are invited to display at the Tukwila Rotating Art Display. Exhibits will be scheduled for an 8-12 week period. More than one artist’s works may be exhibited during each period.
For each exhibition, artists and their work will be publicized by the Tukwila Arts Commission through press releases sent to area media, galleries and arts organizations and on the city's website at www.tukwilawa.gov. Artists may choose to produce supplemental publicity and show cards, and arrange a reception if desired.
Precautions will be taken to protect the artwork from damage or theft, however, the exhibit space is not secured. The City does not provide insurance for artwork submitted for exhibition, and will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged artwork. It is recommended that artists insure the work to be displayed.

SELECTION PROCESS AND REVIEW CRITERIA
The rotating art program seeks to present visual works by local artists of all cultures, techniques, and styles. The Commission may select work which reflects the history, artistic, cultural and natural diversity of Washington state, specifically Tukwila. The Commission may choose specific themes within the general framework and advertise these themes prior to receiving applications.
The Commission will review each application, and only reviewed and approved works may be exhibited. Selection of work will be based upon artistic excellence and adherence to the chosen themes.
Compatibility with surroundings and appropriateness for display in a public building are paramount. All artwork must be suitable for display in a public building frequented by persons of all ages. Works that depict nudity, sexual acts, profanity, or obscenity will not be selected.
Exhibiting artists may be asked to attend a Commission meeting to provide additional information about their application. Materials are reviewed as needed.
Exhibits are scheduled in advance. Exhibit duration shall be set on a case-by-case basis.
