About the Fresh Tracks Performance & Residency Program
New York Live Arts’ Fresh Tracks Program is an eight-month residency opportunity for emerging artists exploring movement-based artistry.
Designed as a springboard for intensive administrative support and creative development, Fresh Tracks is a pioneer opportunity for emerging artists in the field. Unfolding over the course of Live Arts’ regular theater season, the Fresh Tracks Program provides five artists with a 59-hour studio residency, a professionally-produced shared evening bill in the New York Live Arts theater, an artist fee, one-on-one dialogue sessions with the program’s Artistic Adviser, professional development workshops led by renowned professionals from the field, and exclusive access to Live Arts' Marketing, Production and Programming staff.
Criteria for Selection
The Fresh Tracks program is first and foremost a residency opportunity. In considering your eligibility for the program, please note that Live Arts values collaborative minds that are willing to engage in dialogue with other peers in the program. Fresh Tracks is not solely a performance opportunity. Choreographers selected for the program are required to participate in ALL scheduled activities (see page 3).
New York Live Arts values experimentation, collaboration and a genuine commitment to new ideas and new aesthetics. We place a premium on the originality of ideas and the quality of their execution. A panel of artists and other professionals from the field will select artists based on their demonstration of the above qualities and must possess a keen desire to develop and explore their work with their peers in the context of a residency program.
Auditions will be held in the New York Live Arts Theater (219 West 19th Street) on August 26-27, 2017. Artists should be prepared to answer questions from the panel relating to their background, their work, their creative goals and what they hope to gain from the residency workshops. Each audition slot is a maximum of 30 minutes including discussion, set-up and breakdown. NO EXCEPTIONS.
