THEME: Artist are invited to submit up to 3 paintings depicting their interpretation of the theme of Memories. Memories can be defined as: The act or fact of retaining and recalling impressions, facts, etc.;remembrance;recollection; to draw from memory.
ENTRY GUIDELINES
The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is proud to support watercolor and other traditional watermedia materials and methods. With the growth of the arts industry, comes the introduction of new equipment and practices. As the options for art making expand, so must the horizons of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society guidelines for our open juried shows.
All 2D media is accepted.
Framing and Presentation
Work must be presented in a professional manner.
No broken or damaged frames.
Work must be under glass unless it is over 22”x 28”, in which case it must be framed with Plexiglas.
Work may be floated within the frame, or presented with a single or double mat.
White or off white mats are preferred, but liner mats less than 3/8" may be colored. Entirely colored mats are acceptable only if they are integral in the completion of the artwork.
Works on stretcher bars must be properly stretched and wired for hanging but framing is optional.
Must be wired with no wire or hanger showing when hung. No tooth hangers.
Exhibition History
Work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show. Work must have been completed within the last 10 years.
Other
Work may not be copied from copy written material. No work partially or wholly painted by another. Work may have been done in a class or workshop, but only using reference material belonging to the sole artist. Work must be the same work represented by the submitted digital images. No altered digital images may be submitted. Artwork should be well represented by any digital image submitted. Work must be the size represented in the submission form. Work may be listed as NFS (not for sale).

NOTIFICATION OF ONLINE ACCEPTANCE
Notification of accepted works to the Open Juried Show "Memories" will be posted to our website by Wednesday, August 3rd, 2017. Accepted digital entries must be dropped of to the RIWS Gallery by 2pm on Friday, August 4th, 2017.
Legal Agreement:
Completion of the entry form constitutes the artist’s agreement with all conditions established in this prospectus.
RIWS reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitably presented or that varies from the submitted image.
Awards will be given at the discretion of, and as designated by, the juror. The juror’s decision is final.
Although RIWS agrees to handle all artwork with proper care, the Artist is solely responsible for insuring artwork. SCAA and Mable House Arts Center shall not be liable for damage or loss.
RIWS reserves the right to use artist information and images for publicizing the event. A full-color catalog of all accepted works will be produced and a copy will be available to each accepted artist as well as reception or gallery guests.
RIWS is unable to provide protective storage and cannot be responsible for artwork left after the pick-up date or unreturnable shipped work.
