  • GENERAL MANAGER

    Job Overview:

    The General Manager must demonstrate great leadership, interpersonal skills, administrative skills, and able to show flexibility and work in a fast paced environment. The General Manager will work closely with the shop owners to ensure customer and employee satisfaction.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Provide an outstanding customer experience
    • Sets daily priorities for staff and directs work flow for sales area
    • Replenishes shop forms and processes so that they are up to date
    • Adjusts schedules and payroll records in the event of schedule changes and timeclock errors
    • Communicates with vendors and has the highest level of inventory management when ordering product
    • Able to communicate efficiently and effectively with staff, customers, and vendors
    • Develop goals for revenue, customer service, and other relevant metrics
    • Collaborates with the team on issues that may arise and stale and new products
    • Identifies opportunities to improve work environment, daily tasks, and marketing
    • Educates staff on dress code policy, bike use policy, attendance policy, and correction/coaching staff when appropriate
    • Responsible for training, development and evaluation of all staff
    • Demonstrates a commitment to the staff, peers, supervisors and the mission and values of Bike Works Kona
    • Able to respond to work issues if needed outside of shop hours
    • Able to service rental bikes, new bike assemblies, and minor repairs should a Service Mechanic require assistance
    • Checking and replying to emails received as well as taking care of internet orders and preparing these for shipment
    • Has excellent, advanced knowledge of all the inventory in the shop
    • Will complete all other appropriate duties and assignments as requested by the owners

  • LEVEL 1/SALES ASSOCIATE

    Job Overview:

    The Sales Associate Level 1 Position primary job is to help the front of house and coordinate with the Service Department if necessary. They will assist customers by phone, email, and in person with a high level of customer service.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Provide an outstanding customer experience.
    • Greet or acknowledge all customers within 45 seconds.
    • Familiarity with the three types of Customers (1. Customer who knows what they want, 2. Customer who is browsing, 3. Customer who doesn’t want to be helped) and able to service them accordingly.
    • High level of customer awareness and dressing room etiquette/service i.e. greeting and assisting customers, awareness of people going in and out of the dressing room and assisting them if needed.
    • Work directly with the General Manager to assist in tasks beyond the scope of day to day operations should there be a need.
    • Learn the proper Point of Sale practices that relate to selling procedures (layaway, store credit, special order, etc.) and rental bike reservations.
    • Efficiently completes daily work load and tasks: rental reservations, merchandise sales, merchandising, restocking, sales floor cleanliness, shop opening and closing procedures (depending on shift)

  • SERVICE MANAGER

    Job Overview:

    The Service Manager provides leadership and competency in all areas of bicycle service and sales at the store. The Service Manager is responsible for the overall operational success of bike rental, repair, and service inventory. This position works closely with the General Manager/Sales Manager in directing the performance of the service staff in the store.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Supervise mechanics, technicians, and bicycle assemblers; schedule work appropriately for these tech positions and ensure that assignments are completed accurately and on time.
    • Write work orders based on on-the-spot analysis; provide customers with accurate cost estimate quotes and maintenance
      suggestions.
    • Educate staff on dress code policy, bike use policies, attendance policy, and correction/coaching staff when appropriate.
    • The Service Manager will be responsible for training, development and evaluation of all tech staff.
    • The Service Manager will monitor productivity and performance of tech staff.
    • Address any customer service and warranty issues.
    • Manage service inventory with the assistance of other store management.
    • The Service Manager will demonstrate a commitment to the staff, peers, supervisors and the mission and values of Bike Works Kona.
    • The Service Manager will need to respond to work issues if needed outside of shop hours.
    • He/she is expected to prepare daily for the next day and come to work early, making sure the shop is ready before opening.
    • Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift, and once every 24 hours.

    Qualifications:

    • The applicant must have at least 3 years of bike shop experience, with 1 year of management.
    • Extensive knowledge of all types of bicycles, repairs, and new technology.
    • Flexible work schedule - including nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a 40 hour/week position with possible overtime situations.
    • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time of oneself, but also the service staff to adapt to a fast paced environment.
    • Great communication skills; with both the service staff but customers as well.
  • SERVICE DEPARTMENT MECHANIC/LEVEL 1 - ASSEMBLER

    Job Overview:

    The Level 1/Assembler position will assemble bicycles sold at our retail location. A fast learning and excited individual would aid in proper inventory awareness to ensure that the sales staff was supplied accurate information regarding currently built product.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Work directly with the Service Manager to develop quality bicycle builds and expectations.
    • Learn the proper Point of Sale practices that relate to bicycle assembly.
    • Efficiently complete daily work load and tasks.
    • Maintain a clean and well organized work bench.
    • Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift.

  • SERVICE DEPARTMENT MECHANIC/LEVEL 2 – RENTAL MECHANIC

    Job Overview:

    The Level 2/Rental Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance of the rental fleet of bikes. With this position there will be a range of repairs from basic to intermediate level repairs. The ability to log the check in and out of the rental fleet with some customer interactions.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Ensure the rental bike fleet stays clean, tuned, and operational.
    • Learn the proper Point of Sale to log all rental maintenance information.
      Efficiently complete daily work load and tasks.
    • Maintains a clean, and organized work bench.
    • Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift.

    Qualifications:

    • 1 year of shop experience
    • Passion for bicycles a plus, but not required
    • Flexible work schedule - including nights, weekends and Holidays

  • SERVICE DEPARTMENT MECHANIC/LEVEL 3 – PRODUCTION MECHANIC

    Job Overview:

    The Level 3/Production Mechanic will be responsible for entry level to complex repairs, including but not limited to: tune ups, overhauls, brake bleeds, wheel builds, electronic shifting, and suspension knowledge. They will have the ability to diagnose problems, and efficiently come up with a solution for a repair.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Perform a wide range of bicycle repairs.
    • Assist with assemblies, and rentals.
    • Have a good knowledge of the Point of Sale system.
    • Communicate with customers, and coworkers.
    • Efficiently complete daily work load and tasks.
    • Maintains a clean, and organized work bench.
    • Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift.

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of 2 years bike shop experience.
    • Passion for bicycles
