BARC Adoption/Foster Application

Begin Again Rescue Co. (BARC) is an all-volunteer, non-profit, animal welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless, neglected and abused dogs. BARC is completely funded through fundraising efforts and public donations. Our adoption radius is within 150 miles of Valparaiso, IN. All of our pets are cared for in foster homes and receive necessary medical care, which includes deworming, a 4DX heartworm test, vaccinations, spaying/neutering and microchipping prior to their adoption. They are also current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Our adoption donation varies between $300 - $500. Puppies require a $100 deposit that is refunded upon dog being altered per our spay/neuter contract.

Current pets in the household must be up to date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea prevention and be spayed or neutered. We will contact your veternarian and landlord, if applicable. Please provide us with three personal references for you and your family that are not related to you. Please let your vet and references know that we will be contacting them and that they are authorized to communicate with us regarding your application. The last step in the adoption process is the home visit. Once all these steps are completed you will hear back from us within 1-3 days whether your application is approved to adopt or not.

Our meet and greets and adoptions are held at Petsmart in Valparaiso, IN. You will be asked to bring your dogs if they have not met the dog you are wanting to adopt yet. The meet and greet and adoption is held back to back on the same day. At the time of adoption you will receive a folder with their vet records, a collar and leash, and some of the food they are eating. Petsmart will provide you with a coupon book. We will ask that you make an ID tag at the time of adoption and place it on the dog's collar.

This questionnaire is designed to help Begin Again Rescue Co. to determine if a specific dog is the right one for you and your household. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, and pets of our own to care for. Please know we do our best to get back to you promptly. Our adoption process may take 2 weeks or sometimes longer depending on the dog and volume at that time. Begin Again Rescue Co. reserves the right to deny any application based on answers to this questionnaire, interviews, and/or home visits. Dogs will only be placed into appropriate, permanent homes that are the best fit for the dog. If you don't hear from us within 1-2 weeks of your application being submitted, your application will likely not be considered for that dog. If you are not matched with the dog you applied for today, and you see another dog available for which you'd like to be considered, you will need to complete another application. All applications are subject to acceptance based on a review process that requires collecting information from references and visiting the applicant's home. All decisions on placing dogs in adoptive and foster homes are based solely on the judgement of the volunteers and board of directors of Begin Again Rescue Co. Applications submitted through this form may be denied for various reasons. Begin Again Rescue Co. reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care whether in, or being placed in, a foster or adoptive home or other facility.
