  • Scholarship Application - Girl Membership

    Each individual requesting aid needs to complete appropriate application. Applications available for girl membership, girl retail, girl program fees and adult membership.
  • Girl Scouts – Dakota Horizons (GSDH) is committed to providing all girls the opportunity to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The GSDH Girl Membership Scholarship is designed to assist new and renewing girl members in our council jurisdiction by providing supplemental resources beyond a family’s ability to pay.  Scholarship allocations are subject to availability within the council’s current operating budget.  The eligibility and important information below are offered to outline the application process and help navigate the council’s procedure.

     ELIGIBILITY

    • Available to new or renewing girls
    • Form must be completed in full and submitted by the parent/guardian on behalf of their girl
    • Girl scholarship applicants/family must:
      • Be a good financial standing with the council
      • Commit to assisting with transportation to and from activities and other needs as able/willing
      • Receive free/reduced meals or provide a compelling statement of need.
  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    • Applications are kept confidential
    • GSDH encourages girls and families to contribute to membership dues and add the amount the household can pay to the application
      • A copy of the application and contribution payments should be remitted to GSDH Sioux Falls office at the time of application
    • Scholarships are not granted to an entire troop or service unit
    • Scholarships will not be provided for funds already spent
    • When GSDH’s annual operating budget allows and applicant qualifies, GSDH scholarships will be awarded as follows:

    New Member
    (1st year)

    1. Complete Scholarship Application

    2. Receive free/reduced meals or provide a compelling statement of need

    Up to $35 annual membership dues
    Renewing
    (2+ years)

    1. Complete Scholarship Application

    2. Receive free/reduced meals or provide a compelling statement of need

    Up to $25 annual membership dues

    Girl Scouts - Dakota Horizons encourages girls to become self-sufficient through participation in the Product Sales Programs. Additionally, she and her caregivers can also seek support from the troop and the local Girl Scout body known as the service unit. Inquire with your troop leader or the event/camp host to get the conversation started.

    When participating in Girl Scout activities, I (or the person I am registering) give consent to be interviewed, photographed, videotaped, or electronically imaged for the purposes of promotional materials, news releases, or other published formats for either the local Girl Scout councils or Girl Scouts of the USA. The images will be the sole property of the local Girl Scout council or Girl Scouts of the USA. I hereby release and hold harmless the local Girl Scout council and Girl Scouts of the USA from any claim arising from the use of these images.
