  • What does this have to do with tinnitus recovery?: The Healthy Brain Lifestyle program (HBLp) lays the foundation, prepares the "soil", for maximum improvement in the phases that follow. Most people begin to improve during, and everyone benefits from, the Healthy Brain Lifestyle program.  Almost all people continue to improve in Phases 2 and 3, the TPT-t and ADT-s.  Our research has shown 10% more improvement in Phases 2 and 3 for those who have laid the groundwork with other solutions BEFORE they continue to Phases 2 and 3.

  • Quality Food

  • For the following questions, do you:

  • Your Quality Food score is: {scoreFood} out of 12, which is {Food}.  Of course, no single guideline fits everyone.  Also, contrary to many functional medicine nutritionists, the socring, based on the M.I.N.D. diet research, some sweets are allowed, Dairy is not, and grains are encouraged.

We have chosen the M.I.N.D. diet as a score guideline, because of its ability to nourish the brain, a key to improving tinnitus. "In recent studies, the MIND diet showed that it helped lower the risk of Alzheimer's by as much as 53 percent in participants who adhered to the diet rigorously, and by about 35 percent in those who followed it moderately well." (Learn more about the research.)

    Solution:

    • People with scores 9 or below benefit most from the "Return to Quality Food" program.  We will provide this to you.

    ways.

  • Directions to find your RHR

The 2 easiest locations to take your heart rate (pulse) are the Carotid (neck) and
radial (wrist). You may choose either one.

    1. Neck: Place the tips of the index and second fingers of one hand on the side of the neck just beside the windpipe.
    2. Wrist: Place the tips of the index and second fingers of one hand on the inside wrist of the other hand.

It is called the "resting" heart rate for a reason. Emotional stress, physical activity, caffeine, or other stresses can, and usually will, increase your heart rate. The closer you follow the directions below, the more accurate the results will be.

    1. Take your pluse after lying to rest for 10 minutes or before rising in the morninig. (I know, 10 minutes is a long time to lay there. You'll get pretty close after 5 minutes.)
    2. Count the beats of your pulse for 60 seconds.
    3. The number of beats during the 60 seconds is your RHR (resting heart rate). Enter that number above.

Your goal is to be at 13 or higher METs.

    Your estimated MET level of cardiorespiratory fitness is: {metEstimate}

1 MET = Resting metabolic rate; sitting quietly in a chair

Less than 3 METs = Severely limited functional capacity; a criteria for placement on a heart transplant list

3-5 METs = Poor prognosis in coronary patients; highly deconditioned individual

10 METs = Good prognosis in coronary patients on medical therapy; approximate maximal capacity expected in regularly active middle-aged men and women

13 METs = Excellent prognosis regardless of disease status
