• 2018 USTA SC Growth & Innovation Grant

    Guidelines and Application
  •

    Applicants

The applicant will determine the amount of the grant request with a maximum grant request of $5,000. Eligible applicants include tennis providers, CTA members, USTA partners as well as USTA committees and staff.

    Programs/Ideas

Programs must be focused on growing tennis in South Carolina. Ideally, programs or ideas will be new and not an add-on to an existing program. However, if the idea is a significant enhancement to an existing program, it will be considered. Applicants must be able to describe the direct pipeline from the proposed program or idea to increasing numbers of unique tennis players in South Carolina.

    Deadline, Notification & Award

Decisions will be made by the Growth & Innovation Committee of USTA South Carolina. All grant applicants will be notified and funding provided on or by May 1, 2018. Application deadline is April 15, 2018. An in-person meeting with USTA staff prior to the start of the program is required.

    Accountability

All grants recipients must be accountable for the proper use of these funds. All applications must include goals, and the goals must be measurable, either through growth in USTA membership and/or participation numbers. Accountability forms will be provided and due December 1, 2018.

    Specific Guidelines:

    • Grants will be made payable to any provider that aligns with USTA South Carolina vision, values and teaching methods.
    • Grants may be made for adults or kids programs, but programs/ideas must incorporate a pathway for new players into tennis.
    • Programs must be designed to continue for at least one year after  funding ends.
    • A budget for the coming year must be attached.  Budgets should include revenues from all sources, including participant fees, as well as expenditures, including salaries, stipends, court fees, equipment and supply costs, refreshments, prizes, and other amenities.  In-kind contributions should also be included.
  • Applications must be received no later than 5 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2018.

  • List the value of in-kind donations separately below. In-kind donations may include equipment, snacks/food, volunteer hours, advertising/promotion, court time, etc. Basically, if your program receives donated tangible services or products that would normally cost money you should list it below as an in-kind donation. Listing in-kind donations helps show you may have more resources or value in your program than appear in your budget and also acts as a mark of credibility by showing other people or organizations support your program.
