  • Based on the grade selected, you are eligible to apply to one, two, or all of the following Passaic schools.

    -Passaic Gifted and Talented Academy

    -Passaic Preparatory Academy

    -Passaic Academy for Science and Engineering

    Based on your child's current grade, your child is eligible to apply to the Passaic Gifted and Talented Academy.  

    • Passaic Preparatory Academy 

    • All Passaic students will complete their writing sample for their application during school hours. All non-Passaic school students will be given a date and time to complete their assessments.

    • Passaic Academy for Science and Engineering 

    • All Passaic students will complete their writing sample for their application during school hours. All current ninth and tenth grade Passaic students will complete a science assessment during school hours. All non-Passaic school students will be given a date and time to complete their assessments.

    • Passaic Gifted and Talented Academy 

    • All students must attend an audition. Please plan to stay for the full two hours. Students currently in grades 1-4 must complete a writing sample on their audition date. All non-Passaic Public Schools students must attend auditions at 9am on a Saturday to take the entrance exam, writing sample, and audition.

  • Application Requirements for All Applicants:

    • Students may apply to all of the programs concurrently. Their application will only be considered for those programs for which the application is complete.
    • All applicants will be required to complete a written essay. A student must have completed the essay in order for the application to be complete. The essay will be administered to 5th-10th grade students during school hours at all district schools on specified dates. Students in grades 1-4 will complete their essay on their selected audition date.
    • There will be Saturday sessions scheduled at a central location for students not currently enrolled in Passaic Public Schools to complete the essay and/or additional assessment requirements.
    • Applications that are missing assessment results, auditions, and/or essays will be considered incomplete.

     

  • Application Requirements for Current Passaic Public Schools Students:

    • If the student does not have any of the assessment results in their student record, they will be required to participate in a comparable assessment. Students may be given the assessment at their current school location during school hours.

     

  • Application Requirements for Resident Students Not Attending Passaic Schools or Non-resident Students:

    • Students not currently enrolled in Passaic Public Schools will need to submit copies of their English Language Arts and Math PARCC score results to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in order for this application to be considered complete.
    • If the student does not have any record of the above assessments, a comparable assessment will be scheduled at the Saturday sessions identified above.
