MEAL PLAN (All prices are for weekly meal plan/ will be adjusted if extending your program)
Havana has lovely food to enjoy all around the city, however eating in the city can come with its challenges - a simple meal at a local restaurant can take several hours, in addition healthy meals with large servings of vegetables are not commonly served. There are also often challenges purchasing things at the local markets. We work with your hosts, as well as local cooks, to offer this meal plan with healthy and delicious options -- that align with the dietary preferences you have indicated. Purchasing it also ensures your days are efficient as you move from one activity to the next.
Breakfast - Includes fresh fruit, coffee or tea, milk, bread, butter, freshly-made juice, and eggs. On some mornings, the host will add something extra like a vegetable, meat, or cheese. We strongly encourage those who want breakfast to purchase in advance to ensure availability.
Lunch - Typically served as a family style meal with a main dish (both vegetarian and options with meat depending on your responses about your food preferences.) There will always be traditional Cuban beans, rice, and "viandas" (hearty cooked vegetables like plantains, yuca or sweet potato)... as well as our healthy addition of fresh salad or steamed vegetables. Bottled water will be available to drink (and coffee for those who wish!)
