The Mystic Krewe of Apollo-Birmingham (MKA) was founded as a social krewe in 1976 to foster brotherhood, unity and equality within the gay community and society. The main mission of MKA is to put on an outstanding annual Bal Masque during the Mardi Gras season. Since then, MKA has shared the spirit of Mardi Gras with thousands through feathered and sequined pageantry like no other!

We are looking for others who appreciate the revelry and want to share in the festive brotherhood of our krewe!

Membership in the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham is opened to men, over the age of 21, and is limited to a total of 40 members. Prospective new members are required to complete a Membership Application. Following the completion of the application, you must attend at least two MKA-Birmingham functions, one of which must be a General Membership Meeting.

Upon completion of the application requirements, an interview is conducted by the Board of Directors. The purpose of the interview is to ensure that all candidates are fully aware of the structure and organization of the club and to give an opportunity to ask any outstanding questions about the krewe.

MEMBERSHIP DUES for the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham are: $500.00 per year and are billed quarterly.

Upon acceptance, a CLUB MEMBER ACCOUNT, will be established for minor (incidental club related charges), as well as the application of the quarterly amounts due. The Club Member Account MUST have a ZERO balance at Mid-Year (June 30th) and End-of-Year (December 31st). Failure to achieve a ZERO balance will result in immediate dismissal as a member of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham.

Upon acceptance as a member of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham, the applicant shall be responsible for the balance of dues according to the Rules and Regulations of the Club. They will then be regularly billed the remaining dues when due. Applicants should be ready, at the time of their interview to submit payment, in full, for the amount due.

All newly accepted members, of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham shall serve a term of no less than SIX MONTHS PROBATIONARY MEMBERSHIP, at the end of which full membership status will be conferred, the probationary status will be extended or membership may be withdrawn.

My signature below affirms I have read and agree with the information as outlined in the MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS section and I am prepared to submit to the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham the sum of $125.00, which is the total sum of Quarterly Membership Dues, up to and including the date of my acceptance.

Upon my acceptance as a member of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo–Birmingham, I agree to abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo-Birmingham and to uphold the founding ideals and traditions of this distinguished organization.
