    Dance Teacher Application Form Deadline: August 4, 2023

    KDA is setting the dance floor on fire in celebration of National Dance Day! Dance classes will vary from beginning to advanced and range in dance styles.

    From Zumba to Hip Hop, Square Dance to Contemporary, dance classes are open to all community members, dancers and non-dancers, who want to join in the fun! Kern County dance educators are invited to apply to become the official National Dance Day teachers, applications deadline is Friday, August 4.

     

    Call to Dance Teachers

    KDA is seeking dance teachers to provide exciting dance classes ranging in all styles and levels to celebrate National Dance Day in the USA!  All dance teachers will be paid $50 per class. 

    Please note - only one instructor will be paid per class.

    National Dance Day 2023

    September 16, 2023 – Classes are every hour on the hour from 9:00-5:00

     

    Requirements:

    • Submit a completed National Dance Day Application Form (below) which includes the following:    
      • Submit dance resume- including 3 references with contact information
      • Submit 50 word bio
      • Submit dance or head shot
      • Submit an outline for proposed dance class
    • Demonstrate willingness to assist KDA with overall event logistical elements

     

    Compensation:

    $50 honorarium per class

     

    National Dance Day Teacher Benefits:

    • Opportunity to advertise dance organization to over 1000 participating KDA National Dance Day dancers

    Please tell us about your proposed 50 minute dance class.
  •  In the section that asks for a description of your dance class, please use the following as an example:

    "Square Dance is for adults with little to no dance experience.  Dancers will learn simple Square Dance formations and how to respond to a Square Dance caller.  I will also provide a little background on the history of Square Dance in the USA." 

    In the section that asks for structure of your dance class, please use the following as an example: 

    3 minute intro on myself and my style

    7 minute warmup/strecthing.

    30 minute combo breakdown off choreography, review and group performance ollowed by ballet technique for 30 minutes.  

    5 minute cool down

    5 questions and photo opps

  • 2023 NATIONAL DANCE CLASS SCHEDULE

    After applications are reviewed and teacher selections have been made, applicants will be notified.  A follow up email will go out to selected teachers with a link to schedule your class time slot. The National Dance Day Itinerary and class schedule will be finalized by August 16th.
  • KDA AUDIO/VISUAL IMAGE RELEASE FORM

    I grant permission to Kern Dance Alliance its employees and agents, to take and use visual/audio images of me. Visual/audio images are any type of recording, including photographs, digital images, drawings, renderings, voices, sounds, video recordings, audio clips or accompanying written descriptions. I agree that the KDA Photographer owns the images and all rights related to them but permits KDA license to use them. The images may be used by the Photographer and KDA in any manner or media without notifying me, such as web sites, publications, promotions, broadcasts, advertisements, posters and theater slides. I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished images or any printed or electronic matter that may be used with them.

    I release the Photographer and KDA and its employees and agents, including any firm authorized to publish and/ or distribute a finished product containing the images, from any claims, damages or liability which I may ever have in connection with the taking of use of the images or printed material used with the images.

  • KDA GENERAL ASSUMPTION OF RISK & RELEASE OF LIABILITY

    CAUTION: This is a release of legal rights. Read and understand it before signing it.

    I understand and agree that by participating in a KDA Event there is a possibility of physical injury or death. I voluntarily agree, therefore, to assume all risks and responsibility for any such injury or accident, which might occur to me or my child during the KDA Event. I also exempt, release, and indemnify the Kern Dance Alliance, its staff, agents and/or volunteers from any and all liability claims, demands, or causes of action whatsoever from any damage, loss, injury, or death to me, my children, or property which may arise out of or in connection with participation in this event. I further hereby voluntarily agree to waive my rights and that of my heirs and assigns to hold the Kern Dance Alliance, its staff, agents and/or volunteers liable for such damage, loss, injury, or death. I understand that I should be aware of my physical limitations and agree not to exceed them.

    I am at least 18 years of age and competent to sign this release. I have read this release before signing, I understand its contents, and I freely accept the terms. If I am signing this waiver for my children, I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian and have the right to waive these rights.
