  • You will have to setup an Orientation before starting your community service, it will last 30 minutes and count toward your service hours. If you are 17 or younger, a parent or guardian must attend the Orientation with you.

  • Terms & Conditions

    Dependability and Timeliness- Volunteers must report to work on time. Cancellation must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Any notofication made after that will be considered UNEXCUSED unless the volunteer can provide a written doctor's note or evidence of a true emergency. An unexcused absence is any unapproved absence made after 24 hour period, bu BEFORE the shift begins. A "No-Show" is any unapproved absence WITHOUT prior notice or motice made after beggining of shift. A volunteer is considered tardy if they arrive more than 15 minutes late to any shift.

    Tardiness and unexcused absences will have consequences. The first unexcused absence will receive a verbal warning. The second unexcused absence will result in the volunteers next shift being reduced to 1 hour. The third unexcused absence will result in a reduction of the following shift to 1 hour along with a meeting with management. If a minor, a parent or gaurdian will be reuired to attend this meeting. If attendance still remains an issue, the volunteer will face temporary suspension or dismissal.

    2 tardies = 1 unexcused absence

    1 "no-show" = 2 unexcused absences

    Since 1 no-show is equal to 2 unexcused absences, any no-show will result in an immediate reduction of the following shift to 1 hour. 2 no-shows is ground for dismissal. 

    Appearance- Volunteers shall appear for work in neat and clean attire and may not wear clothing that is affiliated with individual religious organizations, including badges or nametags. Clothing should look professional and not be of the sort one would wear to the gym. Men should not wear bagging clothing where their pants are not able to stay on their waist and women should not wear tight or revealing attire.

    Work Ethic, Diligence, and Attitude- Volunteers should work the assigned tasks as if this was a paying job. They must have a pleasant and engaging attitude and be responsive to the supervisor.

    Break and Lunches- Volunteers should be scheduled for 2-4 hours per day. Therefore, lunch time should not be needed. However, if scheduled for longer  periods of time, they may take a lunch with the approval of a supervisor. Volunteers do not get credit for hours while on lunch. 

    Bathroom and Smoke breaks- Should be limited to one per every two hours. Supervisors will sign volunteers in and out for smoke breaks. Smoke breaks are only granted with supervisor approval. 

    Phone usage, Headphones- Usage of cellular phones is prohibited during work hours. Head-phones cannot be used during shifts as it interferes with communication. Abuse will be subject to disciplinary action.

    Monitoring- Supervisor will give feedback to the volunteer as to their performance and continue to inspect their work.

    Discipline issues and Dismissal- If the volunteer is violating any of the above requirements, then the supervisor must take disciplinary action. The following disciplinary measures are available to staff members at their discretion: Verbal warnings, sending volunteers home, confiscating phones, vapes, cigarettes, if used outside of store guidelines or staff expectations, and dismissing volunteers entirely.

    Exception- The exception to this process is if the volunteer is observed to be on drugs or alcohol. Supervisor must immediately report this to management to discuss the immediate release of the volunteer.

  • Thrift2Gift WAIVER

    By signing this waiver, I hereby understand and agree to the following:

    1) That seeds of mustard is a non-profit charitable organization operating Thrift 2 Gift store for the purpose of providing funds for the operation and charitable mission of Seeds of Mustard Ministries. 2) That I am a volunteer and not an employee of Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift. 3) That I am not entitled to any benefits of employment, including but not limited to wages or commission for work performed, reimbursement for expenditures made, health or disability insurance, compensation or medical treatment for injuries sustained while in the volunteer of service with Seeds of Mustard or Thrift 2 Gift, or any other benefits provided to employees under state, federal, or common law. 4) That Seeds of Mustard or Thrift 2 Gift are not responsible for any injury or accident that may occur while I am performing any activities either expressly or impliedly on behalf of Seeds of Mustard or Thrift 2 Gift, including activities outside Thrift 2 Gift store premises, at any storage facility, events, or during travel for any such activities. 5) That I am not an authorized agent of Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift, and as such, I do not have the power to make representations on behalf of, or to bind Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift to any agreement or contract of any nature without express, written authority of Seeds of Mustard or Thrift 2 Gift, and 6) because I am not an employee or agent of Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift, I am solely responsible for my actions while volunteering for Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift, and Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift will not be responsible for any damages that may result from intentional or negligent actions taken, and I agree to hold harmless and indemnify Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift for any causes of action brought against Seeds of Mustard Ministries or Thrift 2 Gift from my actions.

    I agree that I am volunteering at Thrift 2 Gift, a branch of Seeds of Mustard Ministries completely based on my choice and free will. I agree to abide by the ministry rules and guidelines and follow the direction of the management of Thrift 2 Gift based on the work assigned. I recognize that during this time of our nation’s pandemic Thrift 2 Gift is complying with all government regulations and recommendations and I agree to comply with those same requirements for retail stores. I agree to supply my own mask, wash my hands regularly for at least 20 seconds, maintain social distancing of 6 feet from employees, volunteers, and customers of Thrift 2 Gift and follow all procedures that I am asked to follow. I also agree to volunteer free of illness and fever at all times and will submit to a temperature screening if asked. I also agree to hold harmless Seeds of Mustard Ministries, Thrift 2 Gift and any employees if I were to contract the Corona virus. I understand that there is risk in any situation and agree to accept that risk while volunteering at Thrift 2 Gift.
