  • Preparing Your Home for Rent
     Mow lawn
     Trim shrubs and take out any dead plants
     Edge gardens and walkways
     Weed and mulch
     Moss treatment on lawn and roof if needed
     Sweep walkways and driveway, remove branches, litter
     Remove mildew or moss from exterior walls or walks
     Take oil stains off your driveway with cleanser or kitty litter
     Clean and repair patio and deck area
     Make sure all doors and screen doors function property
     Check roof for any loose or missing shingles
     Hose off exterior wood and trim, replace damaged bricks or wood
     Clean and remove rust from any window air conditioning units
     Paint the front door and mailbox
     Shine brass hardware on front door, outside lighting fixtures, etc
     Make sure doorbell is in good working order


    General Interior Tips
     Fix all nail holes in walls and touch up paint and/or add a fresh coat of interior paint in light, neutral colors
     Replace any interior doorknobs that need a key lock/unlock
     Make sure all deadbolts have a turn knob on the inside and do not need a key to unlock from inside
     Make sure all bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms have either functioning blinds or curtains (blinds preferred)
     Leave any extra paint used in the house with the house for future touch ups
     Professionally clean carpeting with pet enzyme if needed, replace if necessary
     Clean and wax hardwood floors, refinish if necessary
     Clean and wash kitchen and bathroom floors
     Wash all windows, vacuum shades or clean blinds, wash window sills and window tacks
     Clean the fireplace
     Repair problems such as loose door knobs, cracked molding, leaking taps and toilets, squeaky doors, closets or screen doors which are off their tracks
     Wipe down all baseboards
     Clean all light fixtures inside and out and make sure all light bulbs work
     Change out filters in heating system, water purifiers,
    Kitchen
     Make sure appliances are spotless inside and out (try baking soda for cleaning Formica stains)
     Replace burner pans on the stove
     Make sure all appliances are in perfect working order
     Clean often forgotten spots on top of refrigerator or under sink
     Wax or sponge floor to brilliant shine, clean baseboards
     Clean inside cabinets and outside of cabinets. Spruce up with Murphy’s     OilSoap


    Bathrooms
     Remove all rust and mildew
     Make sure tile, fixtures, shower doors, etc. are immaculate and shining
     Make sure all fixtures are in good repair
     Replace loose caulking or grout
     Make sure vanity bulbs match and are working


    Garage
     Sweep and mop out and make sure ALL personal belonging are removed from the property.
    Unfinished Basement/Crawlspace/Storage
     Sweep and mop out
