What is Stepping Stones? Stepping Stones is a ministry of CRA. Throughout the year, we provide activities to help those with preschoolers-3rd grade. Each month we will have a field trip, a playdate, and a meeting covering homeschooling topics or Moms’ Night Out. A few times a year, we will go on field trips that are about 1½ hours away from Fayetteville.
Who benefits from this program? Families considering homeschooling, or just starting out, will benefit from the Stepping Stones program. Adults will be able to share with those who are just beginning to homeschool as well as get advice from experienced homeschool moms. Children will have the opportunity to socialize and participate in activities with others their age.
Is there a cost for the program? Yes, the cost of the program for the school year is $50 per family ($25 for CRA members). We use the fee for the program to pay for our party activities, refreshments and supplies for our meetings, and other clerical expenses throughout the year. We try to keep the cost of our field trips low so that our activities are affordable for all families. Many of our activities are free. Some, however, like the pumpkin patch or our Far Away Friday field trips, will have a higher cost (such as a museum admission).
What do I do with my older or younger children not in the Stepping Stones age range? Bring them! We are very family oriented and would love for everyone to participate. When we schedule our trips, we keep the 4-8 age range in mind. For example, when we go to Publix, your older child might enjoy the activities, but it might not be as educational for them as it would be for your littler ones. We love the younger kids too! If your younger child gets upset, please step out for a minute until they are calmed down so they are not a distraction for the rest of the group. We will all keep an eye on your other children. We’ve all been there! Whomever you bring, we ask that you include all of those participating in your headcount so our numbers are accurate for our field trips.
Can Grandma join us? Yes! Grandparents are always welcome to come along! If you have friends that are interested in joining our group, invite them to come to an activity to try it out and see if they would like to join. Please give Becca a heads up and include them in your count.
