After your application is approved, here is our typical course of action:
1. Our first choice is always to use the resources we have to help, most times this is done without the public's knowledge at all.
2. Should we find that the need is greater than the resources we have available, our next line of "attack" is to put out pleas for help. In this stage of action, our requests are general and intended to collect more donations as needed.
3. On rare occasions, when a family's need is great or, when multiple families are affected, we may ask permission to issue family specific "action alerts." These are social media and donor pushes that give a little more info to be able to help us meet specific needs. No PII (personal identifiable information) like names, addresses, contact info, unit, etc. is shared.
Here is an example action alert: "ACTION ALERT: A military family of 3 in CA has lost their home in the fires. We are currently collecting gently used furniture (2 twin beds, queen bed, table/chairs, living room furniture), clothing (size 4T girls, size M womens, and size XL mens), Visa/Amex gift cards and online donations to be able to help them recover as much as possible. Donations may be dropped at XYZ locations and online donations may be made through the following link: XYZ"
We will never post action alerts without your permission.
