  • FILM PROCESSING

    Film is processed daily starting at 10:30AM Monday-Friday. We process Color Negatve ECN2, Color Reversal E6 and B&W Reveral D96 Only.  

    Not all stocks are processed each day. Standard turn around is 5-7 business days.

    Outdated stocks such as Kodachrome 40, Ektachrome 160 Type A or G take 3-4 months. 

    Rush Services can be done for an additional fee (same day process & scan - schedule permitting). Film MUST be in by 10:30AM to make rush processing. Same day shipping not guaranteed. Rushes must be prepaid. 

    Custom processing can be done for an additional fee. 7-10 day turn around. (can not be combined with a RUSH.)

  • PREP & FILE ORGANIZATION OPTIONS

    All film will be cleaned and prepped together onto larger archival safe reels for Super 8 and cores for 16mm in 200’ or 400’ increments. Projection Leader will be added to all non-scaanning reversal film. 

  • Digital Mastering Form

    If we are scanning your film to digital, choose your scan type (BASIC, PRODUCTION, ADVANCED or ULTIMATE) and please fill out the form below. If you choose a scan type other than what you prepaid for, an upgrade charge will apply.
  • Best Light: The person transferring the film will set one color setting for the average of the reel. Best used when all film was shot under the same lighting conditions.

    Color Correction Plus: Scene to Scene color correction for Log Scans.

    Log: A ‘flat’ scan, giving the client the most room in post production to do their own color correction.

    Playback Frame Rate: Most home movies were shot at 18fps, while professional projects are usually shot at 24fps. If you choose a speed that is not what the film was shot at, it could look sped up or slowed down. However, this typically easy to correct in editing software.

    Codec: The type of digital file you will get back on your hard drive. The larger the file, the more information you will have from the film. All ProRes files are high quality and used by most professionals and prosumers.

    High quality, professional scan, best for using your own post production tools for professional work or home movies. Scans are progressive up to 2K. Please select from each drop down below.

    The largest scan you can get, best for archival or theatrical film projects and using your own post production tools. Scans are progressive up to 5K. Pelase select from each drop down below. 

  • ULTIMATE

    Scan using th newest scan technology such as HDR, 4K DPX, 4K TIFF and more for the ultimate experimentation with your film. 

  • File Storage Delivery: Please Select 1 Option:

    Option 1: Global Access: *This is the recommended service. We've dropped the price is $5 / GB. Have your files delivered to you via internet.

    For the original film, select one of the following in the shipping section:

    - Film Recycling (no shipping required, we will recycle your original film)

    - Curbside Pickup of Film at Pro8mm (Burbank, CA only)

    - Shipping, choose the carrier of your choice in the shipping section

    Option 2: Buy from Pro8mm: Pro8mm will select the appropriate size drive for your job at the lowest cost to you. All drives will be formatted XFAT and are covered the Pro8mm Damaged and Lost Goods policy (see website for details.)

     Option 3: Supply your own drive: As a courtesy, Pro8mm will put your files on a hard drive you supply, as log as it is: FORMATTED BY YOU, LARGE ENOUGH TO FIT YOUR JOB, USB3 with CABLE PROVIDED, and NO FILES ON THE DRIVE. We reserve the right to refuse any drives with files on them, and will not take responsibly for any files on your drive. If your drive does not meet these requirements or it is not delivered with the film, you will be required to buy a drive from Pro8mm or incur a $35 service fee to sort out your drive issues. Any data that may be on a client provided drive is not covered under the Pro8mm Damage and Lost Goods Policy.

  • Pro8mm New Storage Program!

    Pro8mm can no longer store customers film & files indefinitey free of charge. Beginning May 1, we will be charging customers if they want to leave their film, files or equipment at Pro8mm for more than 30 days.

    Storage is always free for the first 30 days! Your digital file on our server and your physical film at our facility if you can't pickup right away.  After that, you may buy a 6, 12, or 24 month contract for storage. This option is great for clients who want to pick-up when they are in the LA area and not incur the cost of shipping, or just want that extra security for their digital file for a longer period of time. Any items left at Pro8mm without pre-paid storage will be considered abandoned and will be recycled after 30 days. 

  • Pro8mm offers Fedex and USPS as its return shipping provider. Payment is to be covered by the client. We use standard published rates that can be found at fedex.com or USPS.com, plus a small handling fee included in the price. Pro8mm is not liable for lost, damaged or stolen items in shipping. Should your items get lost in transit, you can file a claim with Fedex or USPS. If you believe that your material has or will have any value that exceeds the cost of your purchase, it is the clients responsibly to obtain relevant insurance from an outside vendor. Click here for more information on our Lost Goods and Damage Policy. Pro8mm cannot use client supplied Fedex account numbers. USPS is an option as a least expensive way of delivering a package, and are done without signature required. For both Fedex and USPS, Duties and Taxes may apply.

  • Terms & Conditions

    • Know your flow. Pro8mm has many options and combinations for your workflow. Pro8mm will not take responsibility for something your system can't handle or you don't understand how to use. If you aren't sure, ask!
    • We are not responsible for image instability due to splices or film that has shrunk.
    • If you need something that is not listed on this form, please inquire. Additional charges may apply.
    • A digital mastering form is required each time you transfer with Pro8mm so we can ensure that every transfer is completed at the correct specifications.
    • Pro Tip! if you do business with us often to the same speicifications, save your PDF version on your desktop and re-print so you don't have to fill it out each time. 
    • We reserve the right to refuse any drives that have files on them. We will not be responsible for any files on drives under any circumstances.
