The Twitter account @whatsuptucson was started as a idea in 2009 to highlight things going on around Tucson. The follower count over the years has grown to over 91,000 Tucson loving people.
@whatsuptucson originally featured mostly community events and has grown to include a variety of locally focused news related content. Traffic issues, speed traps, fires, floods, power outages, missing people, school lock downs, the list goes on. There is also event related information, lost and found animals, yard sales, people selling event tickets -- even the occasional person desperate for a date. If it's happening in the Tucson community I've probably tweeted it.
Thanks to you, @whatsuptucson has grown into the most followed local Tucson news and information focused twitter. I'm one person doing the same kind of work as million dollar corporations with giant staffs and payroll. However, unlike most news outlets, @whatsuptucson is interactive. If you want to know what's happening you can ask!
Thanks to your support over the last decade as followers, content contributors, and more recently financial contributors, I now have an opportunity to spend the most time ever on @whatsuptucson. More scanner monitoring time, more development of content, more effort than ever.
Your help is needed. If you find @whatsuptucson useful to you (or even makes you laugh once in a while), your financial backing is requested. You can donate through one of the many ways listed below. From one dollar to a million, I'd be grateful for anything you can kick in. No donation is too small (or too large, either!).
Your support of @whatsuptucson insures that it continues as a one-of-a-kind source of local information. I'm told over and over again that there's really nothing else like it!
Thank you. I appreciate you.
