• 3D PRINT REQUEST

  • 3D Printing Policies and Limitations

  • Individuals are limited to eight (8) standard print jobs in a calendar year (January - December).

The library may make exceptions for educational, business, scientific, or other unique projects that require 3D prints beyond the standard limit. Please indicate that you are interested in such a project when submitting your print request.

One (1) print request at a time. Once printed, another request may be submitted.

Each request may have no more than five (5) separate parts contained within one 3D print file.

Library staff will not be responsible for assembly of finished 3D prints.

All prints are added to a queue of print jobs and will be printed on a turn-by-turn basis.

Please note that print jobs for library-related programs may take priority over existing jobs in the print queue.

All 3D print jobs should be printable within four (4) hours.

Not all objects/designs can be printed as originally submitted. Upon staff review, designs may be modified, including scaling, grouping parts, and/or dividing parts in order to print within the allotted time.

    Maximum dimensions: 6" wide x 6" deep x 7" tall.

The library will not print weapons, parts of weapons, or facsimiles of weapons, or any obscene, pornographic, or illegal materials.

The library reserves the right to refuse to print any design.

Print jobs will be completed within 28 days from submission. Staff will contact you in the event of a delay beyond the 28 days.
Users are responsible for the removal of any support structures needed to print designs.

Users must pick up completed prints within 30 days of notice. Failure to collect completed prints may result in a loss of printing privileges. Prints can be collected at the Main Library during open hours at the 1st-floor Circulation Desk.
  • All users agree to adhere to the Clearwater Public Library's Maker Studios Terms of Use

If you don't have an original design, or a file ready for upload, you can find many collections of 3D objects available online at Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com. Please type the Thingiverse URL number below.

Please note that not all designs found on Thingiverse can be printed.

When choosing to link to a Thingiverse design, please understand that there may be multiple 3D part files that make up that object. These can be found in the "Thing Files" button for the design.

  • Screen capture of Thingiverse featuring the "Thing Files" button.
  • Library staff will review your print limit exception request and inform you whether the project has been approved or denied. Please note that your project will still count towards your eight (8) print limit for the year. This request is for permission to exceed the limit for the project as described above.

  • Contact Information

Please provide valid contact information in order to be notified by library staff that your print request is ready for pickup. You may choose to provide a phone number, an email, or both -- only one is required.
